If you’re on the East coast like me, battling against one snow storm after another, it might be hard to imagine that thousands of people across the world are going carnival crazy!
I’m talking about the big street festivals, filled with music, colors, floats, dancing and sequins!
It’s currently carnival season and over 10 countries have been hosting their annual festivals that attract hundreds of tourists every year.
Here’s a look at some of the carnivals happening now across the world:
Most of these festivals are rich in cultural history and significance. It’s a time for communities to come together and residents to feel a sense of pride in their country and heritage.
Whether it’s Mardi Gras in New Orleans or Kanaval in Haiti (March 3rd & 4th) these events are the ultimate in cultural expression. With deep African or religious roots visitors get to experience a country’s history, music, food, traditional costumes, dances, artistry and learn about the indigenious people.
If you ever get a chance to experience carnival in another country, you won’t regret it. It’s a great way to celebrate life and culture…and the fun is infectious!
Here are some pictures from my recent trip to Miami carnival in October:
Have you ever been to a carnival abroad or in the US? Tell us about your experience?
Life’s too short not to celebrate it...
